I don’t know if you know this, but for many years I was in a kinda-sorta band.  There were two of us, we didn’t practice, didn’t really have any instruments to play, didn’t play out even once, and our music–an ungodly-ish mix of tape recorder hiss and midi trumpets–was frankly very challenging on the ears.

We stopped recording in late 2007 and actually haven’t spoken in over a year.  But for seven years we put out a Christmas single or EP every year.  They were always online-only, always free, and often included solo tracks as well as ones we recorded together.  My solo tracks were recorded under the name The Glueguns, a name I took from a misheard lyric in a Kristin Hersh song.  (In the song Spain, when she says “spitting out your blue gum” I thought she was saying “spitting out your gluegun,” which I assumed was some kind of blowjob metaphor.)

I started to record a new holiday medley for 2009, but for a variety of reasons it didn’t end up happening.  So if you’re not sick to death of Christmas music, here’s four tracks by moi:

It’s Snowing Men (Weather Girls cover) (2006)

New York’s A Lonely Town (Tradewinds cover) (2005)

Christmas Medley 2007 (2007)

Things Fall Apart (Cristina cover) (2004)
